"Hello, Chicago, and thanks again for tuning in to the Deb of Night. I am, of course, your lovely hostess - feel free to fantasize all you want. But if you're going to send in fanart, little tip; I'm in to leather, not latex. I know you guys - and gals, I'm equal opportunity - are just dying to hear the latest in weird news, so I'll provide some release.
"Well it turns out that throwaway bit about the odd bird behavior a few nights back wasn't as minor as I thought. Sorry, listeners... I'll make it up to you. They've stopped circling and now they're congregating around some of the more tantalizing hot-spots downtown. They've even been reported attacking people in dark alleys. Could Hitchcock have been right after all?
"A very interesting story has come out of that power outage we had last night; Witnesses have come forward claiming they saw a large misshapen man using his body to bridge two transformers at the substation that blew, knocking out multiple city blocks. Those same witnesses also claim that a man left the area after the explosion, but the description of the man leaving the scene doesn't match the supposed perpetrator. I wish I could lay the dispute to rest with my own eyewitness account, since it happened in my backyard, but when the lights go down the clothes come off, so I was busy... the best kind of busy.
"And on a much more serious note, another "L" train maintenance worker has been killed while doing a routine check, this time on the Red line between Garfield and 47th. Police say the Chicago Transit Authority employee was bludgeoned to death after having his hands broken, most likely with a sledgehammer; an M.O. which matches two other murders earlier this week. The FBI has been called in, declaring that these cases have all the hallmarks of serial killings. No witnesses have yet come forward, but the a hotline has been set up for people to call in - we'll get that number for you after the break. Now I'd cover an important story like this no matter what, but there is one tidbit that makes it truly worthy of this show; surveillance camera footage of two of the killings has been recovered, and while the images of the victim were crystal clear the killer was obscured by smoke and tracking errors... very V/H/S. Unnatural horror or no, this killer is a serious threat, and Transit Authority workers are already moving in groups; in many cases under police escort. The FBI is warning the public not to travel the "L" alone at night while the killer is at large, and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
"Now we have a few words from our sponsors, and when we come back I'll have that hotline number for you, so don't touch that dial."
{ A few new things to consider. You may now call contacts, chase down leads, et cetera et cetera. }
